Cara's Page - The Artist

"Self Portrait"

Cara's self portrait (left) won a national award and appeared on the cover of the Scholastic's Monthly Magazine Of Contemporary Literature And Student Writing , May, 1994 edition, Vol. 46 No. 8. Created when she was 17 years old and a senior in high school, this painting also was directly instrumental in winning Cara scholarships to several art schools. She accepted a full scholarship to Columbus College Of Art And Design and she went there for two years before transferring to The Tyler School Of Art, an extention of Temple University in Philadelphia. She graduated in the spring of 1998.

"Abstract Landscape #56"

A gift to her parents who had recently returned from a trip to Egypt, this abstract landscape (left) portrays ancient lines bathed in earth's warm colors. It's a favorite of Dad. Cara painted this piece in August, 1997 just before she left for Temple University's extention semester in Rome, Italy.

"Hermitage"

A watercolor landscape of the house Dad lived in from 1959 through 1963. Cara did this work from a photograph. The house is part of Philadelphia's Fairmount Park system and is located in the Wissahickon section of Philly off Henry Avenue on Hermit Lane, just above Kelpius Cave. The painting is prominently hung in Dad's living room in Florida. Mom and Dad had five copies made of this painting; one each for Dad's mother, and four sisters.
