Me

Yes, This is the place! This is where I can brag, boast, be vain, be self-absorbed, and be egotistical. Aren't you lucky!

I have a wonderful wife, Peggy. She is my all-time favorite person.  I also have four beautiful children and I am blessed with two tremendously smart and attractive grandchildren. I have four sisters and a really great group of in-laws and nieces and nephews.

Below, and on the next few pages are some of my favorite people and things. This is not an all-inclusive display. I have many, many, many favorite people and things. Some I don't have pictures of.....and some I just forgot about when I was doing this page. But I will continue to update things in the future.....

Peg

To the right, my wife Peg, aka Margaret Mary Murphy Higgins, relaxes on the beach at New Smyrna, FL. Peg is just awesome! Almost single-handedly, she raised our four children.....and at the same time she has been a full-time, dedicated school teacher......and .....on week-ends and nights. she got her Masters and Doctorate degrees and passed her National Board Teacher Certification  She is tenured where she teaches and is one of the highest paid teachers in our county school system.....which means she makes about 110% above minimum wage!

Cara & Me

Sometime around 1986, my daughter Cara figured out she had two dads; one skinny dad and one fat. I'm not sure who took this picture back around then, but Cara with her chalkboard, and the clicker with his or her camera, captured one of the major stories of my life. I have lost and gained more weight over my lifetime than anybody I know. Cara obviously would vouch for me on that. Right now I am a degree or two more to the right of the third guy in Cara's rendering........ but I have a new diet I'm going to try tomorrow!

Cara now has grown up to become a super artist and Art teacher. She teaches elementary school kids in our county. She has a B.A. degree in Art from Temple University and a M.A. degree in Art from UCF. And Cara just passed her National Board Teaching Certification exam!

On top of all that, Cara is one of the most sensitive, beautiful, honest, and downright unpretentious persons I know. I'm very proud to be her dad!

Kevin Higgins is our youngest child and second born son. A graduate of the University of Florida where he majored in Economics, Kevin is the best computer doctor you could ever wish to have come fix your PC or network. Kevin could be the smartest of my Higgins clan, although Peggy made certain all our children inherited her high I.Q. brain power. But I will take credit for Kevin's great sensitivity for others, his good looks, his great personable demeanor, and his love for a wee taste of heaven right here on earth.

A real pleaser, Kevin gives all of himself......and that quality neither his mom or I can take credit for.....it makes him unique......and it is his gift to us.

Johnny Diggz

Our second born child and first male son, John J. Higgins, III is a self- proclaimed "Techie Musician Film Geek." John lives in a house near downtown O-Town where he can often be seen doing 'Diggz gigs.' This portrait of John, aka Johnny Diggz, was painted by Cara. Just so you know, Peggy and I want to make it clear that John's body isn't really black and blue. He is a fairly pretty, straight, white boy.  He very much takes after his dad in that regard.

I've always envied John for having the courage to follow his dreams.  Don't be surprised to one day see John accepting the Best Producer Award.

Erin is #1

Our first born child, Erin is jam packed with Pete Rose hustle, Tom Brady talent, Higgins intelligence, and Murphy independence. Erin is a graduate of Rollins College, where she lettered in tennis and softball and was editor of the school newspaper and yearbook. And she went on to earn her M.A. degree at UCF. She is the former co-owner of Pepper O'Donnell Marketing Agency and after several years of successful operation sold it to devote herself full-time to motherhood. Erin is married to Steve O'Donnell and they have two great kids, Ryan and Shannon. Currently she serves on the Board of her Homeowner's Association, and the local PTA. She is also captain of her tennis team, teaches CCD at the church, and is involved in a church bible study group.

A close friend of Erin's told me recently that she is the most capable person she has ever met.....that after accepting a goal, Erin will let nothing stop her from achieving it. I responded to the friend, "I know."
